Newborn bear cubs sound exactly like humans. (http://io9.com/5878818/newborn-bear-cubs-sound-exactly-like-humans)
No, seriously, listen.

Wow! They do sound just like humans! :D

They do! And they really stink! I got to hold two babies inside my jacket to keep them warm while helping a friend of mine who studies them.

And mama bear didn't mind? Lucky you!
Also, they do sound human, usually I make similar sounds early in the morning that are hard to understand usually.

Mama bear was in hibernation mode and helped along with a little tranquilizer as well so we could weigh her and take other measurements.
-
Don't female bears usually give birth during hibernation, lucky them
-
Yes. Imagine that, going to sleep and then waking up with a several week old baby or two lying next to you. :omg:
-
I am sure a lot of females would love to go to sleep and give birth at the same time
-
And some women used to (back in my mom's time and before) though most preferred not to be totally knocked out now. ;) I think the bears are probably aware of what is happening. They will have more wakeful periods during hibernation and some even come out and go back depending on need for food/weather. It's more of a dormancy than a true hibernation I think.

But wait! More cuteness!
