I just came back from a trip to Gordon's Food Service grumpy. After two years of haggling with the prison administration, my prison ministry was finally given permission to supplement the Asatru Midsummer Feast. (The prison supplied feast doesn't bear describing) The offenders themselves had pooled their money to pay for it (a real world exercise in several of the Noble Virtues!) So I went to arrange to have the food delivered directly- to save myself from the extra 2 hour drive and hassle. So anyway, I get to the restaurant supply place, and the conversation goes something like this:
Me, "I want to pay for an order here, and have it delivered to the New Castle Correctional Facility."
Them, "We don't have a store in New Castle"
Me, "No, but you have a store in Anderson that delivers to New Castle"
Them, "Well, anyway, we can only arrange deliveries for established delivery customers"
"You have a delivery going there Friday."
"Yes, but that was ordered by Geo Corp.; you don't have an account, and we can't get one set up in time for the Friday delivery"
"Why do I have to have an account?"
"To make sure we get paid"
"I have a check in my hand"
"But we can't take the order because you don't have an account"
Why do I say I've grown?
I'm writing this from home, not a jail cell.
peace,
ES
