Title: How do you celebrate?
Post by: Tirya on June 07, 2010, 07:29:41 PM
Just wondering what folks are doing for Litha?

The local CUUPS group by me is doing an Egyptian Summer Solstice circle that I'm planning on checking out. I have no idea what it's going to entail, and am intentionally not doing any research so I can "go with the flow" and see where it takes me.

I was thinking that I really need to do a ritual this year.   It may sound silly, but I feel like I have been overflowing with joy lately and I need to give some back to the Universe (and maybe to some friends who might be needing it!)

I usually get up well before sunrise (the ONLY day of the year I do that  ) and Hubby and I enjoy a very quiet and serene morning enjoying coffee on the back patio while the sun comes up.  I have been doing this pretty much since '05 and it has been wonderful every single time.

We will be attending Ellwyn's handfasting the day before (and doing something for Father's Day if we can squeeze it in) so I'll likely be resting at work.

I had wanted to be making St John's Wort oil and picking elderberries for jam and such if any are ripe but the in-laws will be visiting. Not sure if I will do anything to celebrate unless we have a cookout. I like the idea of watching the sunrise though.

EM, I don't remember where I read about the ritual, but it really struck a cord with me.  I think the writer made an entire night of it, staying up until after the sun rose, but I have 3 kids and the second my head hit the pillow they'd be up yelling for breakfast.  This was a nice compromise.

We will be doing a litha/fathersday celebration with the coven and our families.  Probably a BBQ and what not

I just got an email from the local CUUPS group that they're doing their Egyptian-themed Summer Solstice ritual on the 23rd. Guess I know where I'll be going!! :)

I'll be doing my annual "greet the sunrise with Hubby and coffee" on the back patio.  It is probably the only day of the year that I can manage to drag my butt out of bed that early, but we have really loved doing that as it gives us some really wonderful and much needed quiet time alone.

Our CUUPs group is also doing a ritual on the 17th (the day after my birthday) so it will be a great weekend!

I'm doing five Litha's: three in prison, CUUPs, and a private one at home.

Oh, I'm sorry I was thinking of the CUUPS festival in Ft. Lauderdale that takes place at the same time as the one in Texas.  :rotflmao:
