A Solitary Ritual
« on: June 20, 2010, 09:56:23 AM »

I celebrated this ritual during a hike in the Smokies.  Prior to starting the ritual, I used my bells to rid myself of any negative energies.  The space selected for the ritual was at a stream crossing with the altar being in the stream. The main body of the stream was to the West with the mountain rising on the East.  The Sun was shining bright after an earlier thunderstorm.  I used a fallen branch that I found near the sacred space to call the quarters and to direct the power.

Here is a pic that my daughter took while I was meditating during the ritual.

“Hail to you Spirits of the North and the power of Air, you who are the wind on my face,
I do summon, stir and call you up to witness these rites and to guard this sacred space.”
At this point while I felt the breeze, I placed a sprig of lavender that I brought from my herb garden on a large rock in the North.

“Hail to you Spirits of the East and the power of Earth, you who are the mountains around me, I do summon, stir and call you up to witness these rites and to guard this sacred space.”
There was no need to mark the East due to the mountain being there.

“Hail to you Spirits of the South and the power of Fire, you who are warmth and light,
I do summon, stir and call you up to witness these rites and to guard this sacred space.”
At this point while I felt the Sun’s warmth, I placed a sprig of mint I brought from home on a large rock in the South.

“Hail to you Spirits of the West and the power of Water, you who are the babbling brook,
I do summon, stir and call you up to witness these rites and to guard this sacred space.”
There was no need to mark the West due to the stream being there.

“This sacred circle is cast
between future and past.

As above, so below,
The circle is made whole.

So mote it be!”

At this point I invited  my personal guides and any nearby fae to witness the rite.  I had the strong feeling of Dragon’s presence and what I believe was an undine.

“Blessed Be!”

“They who are called by many names, I honor you!

Father God, come join with me!
Your warmth and light sustains me.
At the time of your greatest power, I honor you.”
On the right, I placed a small pottery sun to represent the Lord.

“Mother Goddess, come join with me!
You glow with the promise of new life.
For your hope and ceaseless love, I honor you.”
On the left, I placed a small pottery moon to represent the Lady.

“Blessed Be!”

At this time I meditated on the power of the Sun and how it blazes away impurities of Spirit.  I attempted to really feel the rhythm of the natural surroundings of the sacred space.  It was actually quite an awesome and indescribable feeling.  Then I raised power to release to my friends who have requested prayers recently.  I was amazed at how easy raising power was in this setting - it was so awesome!

“So mote it be.

Farewell to the Oak King
and Hail the Holly King!

The Sun is not lost.
It will rise again.
The Sun is within me.
See how I shine!
See how I shine!”

Since I still had some hiking to do, I decided that earthing the excess energy was unnecessary.

“Mother Goddess, Father God,
Who created All and are All
I thank you for your presence here
and for the blessings you have bestowed on me!
May Your love stay with me now and evermore.

Blessed Be!”

At this time, I dropped the herbs that I had brought from home into the stream as an offering and I thanked Dragon and the water sprite for their help.

“Spirits of Air, Earth, Fire and Water,
Go if you must or stay if you will.
I humbly thank you for your presence!
Though the circle is open, it remains unbroken.
As Above, So Below.
So I have said.
So mote it be.”

Beautiful indeed. Ritual is always more effective in nature, I think.

That ritual was as gorgeous as the pictures. May I copy that to possibly use in future?
