Title: Um... wow! Disturbing.
Post by: Fox on February 23, 2010, 07:44:55 PM
I ran across this post on the Soap Queen's blog and was just astounded.

Having products in my shop that could very easily be affected by rules and regulations like they are proposing is so very disturbing and sad.

This is what happens when a bunch of idiots who couldn't find their butts with both hands and a flashlight decide that they need to "do something" in order to woo stupid sheep voters into thinking that they're actually legislating.

I can't really say what my thoughts are on this ... they certainly aren't PG-13. :rolleye:

The really sad part is that it could very well mean that we need to keep a very close eye on what happens with this.  It could seriously impact a lot of what we are doing.  Idiots!

It could.  The good news is, I don't know of many herbs that could be even remotely considered carcinogenic. ;)

From what I understood, because the legislation is worded so loosely anything that may even be related to (as in contains or can be made into) a carcinogen could be a target.

Very disturbing, Fox. I really hope they don't get this passed. It will seriously interfere with people that like using natural substances for, well, just about anything. Seriously, these products are already being tested to make sure they are safe for use, why try to eradicate them?

Has anyone considered that one or more of the cosmetic manufacturers might be behind this?  Just like the drug companies attempting to ban natural supplements claiming lack of regulation in an attempt to wipe out the competition, this may be a move by large cosmetic companies to kill off their competitors.  Just a thought.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least.  Especially when you consider the fact that many of the products made with the natural ingredients tend to work better than the big, factory made stuff. *wink, wink*  :whistle:

Um, yes. They don't actually care about people's health; it's entirely money driven.
$ $ $

I hadn't thought of that, but you have a good point. Money obsession is getting absurd!
