Samhain Resolutions 2010
« on: October 12, 2010, 03:08:47 AM »

Wow ... here we are, roughly 3 weeks from Samhain, and once again I haven't stopped to even think about resolutions.  And while I'm not sure resolutions really work for me (I'm constantly working to improve myself) I think the ritual of thinking about them, writing them down, and then having a ritual to "seal the deal" (so to speak) is of great value, at least to me.

And while I'm thinking on what I might resolve for the coming year, I thought I'd throw this out to everyone.  So ... what do you want to banish from your life, and what do you want to invite in? ;)

I'm not much for the "resolution" thing, but I do like to at least think about things I'd like to accomplish.  I'm sure it is all really semantics, but it's what works for me. ;)

The first, and probably most obvious, is to get going on the silversmithing.  I can't get it out of my head and every time I try to sit down and work on something, my mind tends to drift that direction.  I would love for that to be the catalyst to making Shades more profitable rather than just a hobby.

On a more personal level, I'd like to have a better, more conscious focus on my health.  Taking my vitamins and finding some sort of an exercise routine that works for me, even if it is very minor.  It is better than nothing.

I'd also like to have more regular times for ritual and meditation.  I'm too good at finding excuses to not do some of these things.  Again, even if it is just very, very minor, it is a start.

Those are all some lofty goals, but that is one of the reasons why I like goals over resolutions.  Goals are just something to work towards rather than something I MUST do.  Even if the only thing I've done in reaching those goals is to take a step towards them, I'm still one step closer than I was standing still.

I resolve to keep up with what I've been doing this year in regards to health and fitness.  I WILL be making that hike this year that I haven't been able to do since before my daughter was born.  I am this close now...

Spiritually, I would like to develop a more balanced relationship with the God.

I think I might be adding a resolution to be more charitable, I just need to figure out how...

I want to have more fun.  I've been working through such tough issues the past few years that I have become WAY too serious.

I think you may have already made a connection. You definitely "broke the ice" on more healthful eating for your and your family.
