Binding.
« on: August 12, 2012, 09:24:34 PM »

To be honest I currently only own one book about Wicca- but I have taken the time to sit down in bookstores to read other books. But so far I have only come across books that give a simple binding spell. However what I'm looking for is more in depth information about binding. I have also done a web search but I am still coming up a little short on the information I need.

So here are the questions I have and if anyone could direct me to some reading material that could clarify these questions for me, I would be most grateful.

Q. Are binding spells permanent?
I know there are spells that can break a binding- but I am curious if the binding can become void after so long or due to circumstances.

Q. Are there ways to tell if you have been bound?
I am currently only studying the path, I am not participating in any rituals or spellwork and probably won't be for some time. And so far the only answers I have found to this question have to deal with energy and spellcraft.

Q. Are there any ways to protect yourself in the future from binding spells?

A spell can become permanant, a well crafted spell has a release mechanism built into it. Spells do sometimes fade on their own so new solutions should be found over time, it depends on how strong it was as to if it will collapse.

A person who is sensitive to such things can detect a spell, especially while doing energy work. There are also spells to discover if you are spelled. Divination sometimes works, another way is if you have a familiar spirit or guide to assist you.

If you become good at shielding, especially mirror type energy work you can deflect spells.
Even better is not to hang around people nasty enough to put a spell on you, generally Wiccans and moral pagans will never cast spells on people without their permission if they fool with magic at all.

Thank you very much for answering my questions.
To be more direct the reason I am so interested is because I had a binding spell placed on me over ten years ago. While at the time I was able to feel the difference, after so long of being affected by it I was no longer able to feel it. I was diverted from the Wiccan path for many years so it had never occurred to me then to do anything about it. However since I am on this path again and since it has been so long I wasn't sure if it could still be in effect.

I will continue studying material on binding and deal with it when I am comfortable enough to do so.

Studying is good. I'm not sure we ever really stop studying... I'm actually glad you asked this question because now, I know the answer. Thank you for that. :)
