What's more annoying and dangerous than idiots? Idiots with guns. I just got a text from a friend who lives in the middle of nowhere (translate hickville). They heard a gunshot earlier (not an unusual occurrence by any means in Knoxville or the outlying areas) and just found a bullet embedded in their shower wall. If someone had been in the shower they would have been SHOT - just because they wanted to be clean. There should be a minimum IQ requirement for owning firearms...

The cops came and figured that the shot was fired from the field next door. Apparently, the next door neighbor has a crazy son who likes to play with guns. Of course, the cops aren't going to do anything about it because a. nobody got killed, b. it would take expensive forensics and a real investigation to prove the crazy neighbor did it and c. they just don't care. Oh well...

My friend said the neighbors have already moved and the house in on the market Hopefully it will sell soon and the crazy son can find somewhere else to shoot...Personally, I'd be for breaking all the son's fingers so he couldn't pull a trigger, but that's just me...

At least they're moving.
But I still think that if something like that happens, the neighbours (meaning the ones that got shot at) should be allowed to file a complaint, and if that pans out they should lose their gun license. If you have a gun and endanger others with it, you should lose the privilege.

One does not need a license to own a gun in most states so there is no such thing as losing the privilege. You just can't purchase a gun if you have a felony record or a history of mental illness ... unfortunately stupidity is neither a felony nor an illness. :whistle:

A license is required here only if you want to carry a gun on your person.

In most cases, in most states, you do not need a licence to own or carry a long gun (Rifle/shotgun), just a hand gun...which in most states also need to be registered (independant of licence/permit) I have a Concealed Carry pistol Permit. It means my pistol can be in my purse, out of sight.

Yes, that way here also. I used to carry one, but sold it. Now I just have a bigger one for at home here. And I must admit I am a very good shot.......LOL :cheer:

Ah, so different from here and Canada (only countries I've lived in.) You need a license to own the gun and another one to take it off your property. There are a lot more laws as well, but I wont get into it. Also, Germany is stricter than Canada (because Canada has such a big outdoors/hunting culture...in Germany you have to belong to a hunting guild or something to own one...in Canada you just have to pass a background check.)
