Title: Wow! We got quiet!
Post by: Fox on September 03, 2010, 07:40:13 AM
It is really interesting to see how we get tied up in daily life, often many of us at the same time.  I don't have much of an excuse myself.  Just Hubby's birthday and the final court date for the adoption last week.  Other than that it has just been boring stuff like laundry.  :rolleye:

Work has been crazy and so has life it seems.  Trying to get the kids back into the swing of school life too. It seems the older they get, the harder it is. I have a feeling i'm really going to be in for it when they get to be teenagers

Oh, don't get me started on the back to school rant.  It has been... interesting... to say the least so far this year.  :rolleye:

Jury is still out on the school deal... which reminds me, I need to email the PE teacher and clarify something.

Where's CD? I think it has astrological underpinnings. My life sped up x10 just in the past two weeks and I've heard the same from a lot of others.

I think Mercury is in Retrograde at the moment

Amber, you are right.  We went into retrograde on the 20th and won't be out until September 12th.

CD is catching up on sleep and trying not to think about all the stuff she should be doing so she can rest up after the last 3 months. :rolleye:

If something has changed, I haven't noticed ... we've been going full speed on things since the beginning of June.

Well after tomorrow, I will have something to talk about and pictures to post. We are going to the ScotsGames.

OK ... I was talking to Ellwyn and apparently part of the problem is that there are 5 planets retrograde right now.  Here's the breakdown with some info on each: (days noted are based on UTC times that the planets go retrograde or direct)

Mercury is retrograde 8/20/2010 through 9/12/2010
Quote
Issues with communication, travel, and work ... mistakes get made, misunderstandings occur, delays happen

Jupiter is retrograde 7/23/2010 through 11/18/2010
Quote
Affects optimism, opportunities, education, religion, and philosophy ... plans go awry, we question ourselves more, and tend to do more "internal analysis"

Uranus is retrograde 7/10/2010 through 12/10/2010
Quote
Uranus affects change, the old transitioning to the new ... instability, uneasiness, stubbornness, and rebelliousness abound

Neptune is retrograde 6/3/2010 through 11/9/2010
Quote
Affects feelings and intuition ... boundaries, imagination, and creativity are lacking and we tend to focus more on what we want than having compassion for others

Pluto is retrograde 4/9/2010 through 9/16/2010
Quote
Pluto is the planet of transformation and upheaval ... a time of destruction and rebuilding where outside forces or intense situations may be present

The specific effects on each person will vary based on where the planets fall in their personal chart but the effects noted here are what we can expect in general. ;)

That definitely explains a lot.  Looks like we may be in this for a little while longer, though a few of those planets will be going back soon.  It sure would be nice to get rid of that bored, antsy feeling I've got going on.

I find that hiking helps get rid of that for me. :D

Well, of course it does!  You have an incredible landscape to hike through.

Huh, I knew something must be afoot, but I did not expect 5 retrogrades. Wow. Have to say I felt a number of them quite intensely.

:rotflmao:  Yeah, Foxy is a "flatlander" out there.

Only in this part of the state!  We have a few nice hills here and there, though.

Hills?  You mean mole-hills right?  The stuff we have here that are around 5000 or 6000 feet we consider hills ... gotta be over 8000 feet to be considered a small mountain. :rotflmao:

Foxy's hills are probably bigger than what they call hills in Michigan. Have you ever been to the Porcupine "Mountains"? I laughed my tail off when I saw what Michiganders consider mountains.

Never been to Michigan ... and as much as I hate Wikipedia, it was the only site I could find with any elevation info.  The highest point is less than 2000 feet?  :rotflmao:

2000 ft?  I live in the Tennessee Valley and the elevation here is 1000 ft.  The Smokies aren't very high as far as mountains go, but they sure are purty!  :D  And for the record, the people that we see as flatlanders are those who have to take the curves at the posted speeds.

What about us that have to go well below the posted speeds?  Do I even want to know what you call us?  :rotflmao:

Gotta remember that the Smokies are much older than the mountain ranges out West, and have had significantly more erosion over millennia.

Yep ... if you have to do the "suggested" speed around turns (or less) you're likely to get run over out here.

The average speed through Nashville on the Interstates is around eighty, if that tells you anything. Except rush hour (which is at least three hour long) when it is about ten.

I think that part of the problem is that we're still under-utilized and under-membered. With a smaller group like we have, we tend to not get into the vigorous discussions that we're used to on other sites.

While we have differing views on things, our views tend to be compatible with each other. And as such many of our conversations start out as interesting and end up as "Yeah, I can totally see your point" and then quieting down.

Toss in 5 retrogrades and it's no wonder we're sort of in the doldrums.

When we get our numbers up and can get some more people with differing viewpoints, then things will get more interesting. We just have to get through the "blahs" we're going through and keep plugging this site to others and keep trying to come up with lively topics of conversation.

Hah!  That's true.  We know one another so well that we either agree or quietly roll our eyes and smile.  We're all predictable.   :rolleye:

I think that at this point we could each write responses for every one of us and hit the nail on the head.
