Last spring, a white buffalo calf was born on a ranch owned by a member of the Lakota, not far from Dallas. He was born during a thunderstorm, and was named Lightning Medicine Cloud. On Monday, he was found butchered and skinned. The next day, his mother was killed. There was supposed to be a news conference today at noon, but I haven't seen any more details as to the circumstances. I could see "killing him" as the malicious act of a bunch of local idiots who did it for kicks because he was "different", the same sorts of lowlifes who shoot horses in local pastures because they're bored. But to skin him and later kill his mother? To me that smells of something more "spiritually significant" in nature, especially since there was a celebration to honor his birthday scheduled for next weekend. People suck.
