Title: Quotes
Post by: VenusInFurs on October 08, 2009, 03:30:42 PM
Post a quote!  It doesn't have to be inspiring, or anything in particular (though it can be if you want it to be!)  Just something you like, or that you see and want to share!

I'll start:

"There's no substitue for romantic imagination and daring, absurd acts of unexpected kindness" ("Innocence", Kathleen Tessaro)

I'm reading this book for the second time and I'm remembering why I liked it so much the first time I read it.

"The truth is I love being alive. And I love feeling free. So if I can't have those things then I feel like a caged animal and I'd rather not be in a cage. I'd rather be dead. And it's real simple. And I think it's not that uncommon." -Angelina Jolie

Coyote Commandment VI: Of Course Thou Shalt Kill. Carnivores Do That. Also, Swatting Mosquitoes, Sort Of Instinctive. But All Creatures Are Alive Before You Kill Them, and So Thou Shalt Respect Them In Their Lives and In Their Deaths. Thou Shalt Not Kill Without Reason. Thy Neighbor Tapping Thy Wife? Is Not A Reason. Don't Make Me Set A Plague Upon Thy Butt. Thou Wouldst Not Enjoy It, I Promise.

(Edited for language, though "Don't Make Me Set A Plague Upon Thy donkey" was pretty damn funny...)

Kinda lengthy  :D
Quote
It's better to light a candle than to curse the dark.
In the eyes of the youth there are question marks,
Like freedom.
Freedom for the mind and soul,
We don't see them.
See them for their worth at all,
That's why we lead them.
Lead them to these wars and what is it we feed them,
Feed them our impurities and who it is we treat them.
Treat them like the enemy humanity will need them,
Need them like the blood we spill and where freedom.
Freedom for the hearts we fill, mislead 'em.
They hunger for the love we give, but we cheat 'em.
The cops beat them when all he wants is his freedom,
So they defeat them, whatever spirit he's got, beat 'em,
And they teach them that the rest of the world don't need him,
And he believes it's a disease that he's heathen.
Put up your fists if all you want is freedom.

-K'naan

Hey there Salinger, What did you do?
Just when the world was looking at you
To write anything, that meant anything
You told us you were through
And it's been years since you passed away
but I see no plaque, and I see no grave.
And I can't help believing, you wanted it that way.

Quotes... my favorite things!  Where do I start?

So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains And we never even know we have the key. ~ Already Gone, The Eagles

When Archie Bunker's daughter rambled a statistic about people getting killed by guns.  Archie's reply: "Would it make you feel any better is they was pushed out Windows??"

I want to leave this life the same way I came in.  Naked, screaming and covered in someone else’s blood.

No longer lend your strength to that which you wish to be free from.  ~ Jewel, Life Uncommon

Set down your chains till only faith remains.  ~ Jewel, Life Uncommon

Tolerance for beliefs is one thing, tolerance for the social enactment of beliefs is another.  ~ John Lamb Lash

My motto:  No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.  ~ Nietzsche

Behold the Divine, and then recognize in yourself that which engages the Divine.  All there is to see and encounter has a Divine nature and is meant to be experienced in and through an intimate and sensual relationship with the living, breathing earth.  ~ Lyall Watson

All of your barriers are self inflicted.  ~ scamp, Occultforums.com

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye.  ~ Miss Piggy

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you.

Truth is what the victor says it is.

In its simplest, truest form, magic is performed as a demonstration, to show the universe what’s expected of it.  If you want it to rain, for example, you go out and sprinkle things with water.  If you want it to stop raining, on the other hand, you make a fire and start drying things out.  ~ Daniel Quinn, Providence

The God excuse: the last refuge of a man with no answers and no argument... ~ George Carlin

Witchcraft is all about living to the heights and depths of life as a way of worship. ~ Ly De Angeles, Witchcraft: Theory and Practice

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.
T. E. Lawrence

Common sense is not so common.
Voltaire

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who dream only at night.

I hate to make Bible quotes on a pagan site but I have always loved Corinthians chapter 13:4-7

" Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast: it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on it's own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

"There are four pillars which support the world...the wisdom of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the righteous and the valor of the brave."

We can easily manage if we will only take, each day, the burden appointed to it.  But the load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday's burden over again today, and then add the burden of the morrow before we are required to bear it.  ~John Newton

Mine- Energy Follows Attention. *I suspect that's a crushed down from something Einstein said*

I Like Einstein....

"The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don't know how or why. The truly valuable thing is the intuition." -Albert Einstein-

"Time and space are modes by which we think, not conditions in which we live." Albert Einstein.

What is energy? Einstein said, "Energy is an essence of life that forms its existence, fades, restructures its form, and then lives again."

"The important thing is not to stop questioning." -Albert Einstein.

"Great spirits often meet violent opposition with mediocre minds" - Albert Einstein

The differences between prejudice and a conviction is that you can explain a conviction without getting mad.
