Your Favorite Love Poem or Song Lyric?

(1/2) > >>

vordan:
I thought that as a more upbeat topic, it would be fun to post your favorite love related poem or song lyric. It can be serious or goofy whatever your mood strikes you, and just a few lines or a whole. This is part of a poem by George Darley that has both truth and humor in it.

It Is Not Beauty I Demand

" For crystal brows- there's naught within,
                          They are but empty cells for pride;
He who the Syren"s hair would win
Is mostly strangled in the tide.

Give me, instead of beauty's bust,
A tender heart, a loyal mind,
Which with temptation I could trust,
Yet never linked with error find.

One in whose gentle bosom I
Could pour my secret heart of woes,
Like the care burdened honey- fly
That hides his murmurs in the rose.  "

                                   George Darley

Also a bit from a Dolly Parton song.

                                Yours Love

"May the fruit of my toil be yours love
May the food from my soil be yours love
And from this moment on may a love that is strong
That lives on and on be yours love"

AmberRaven:
mine would have to be the lyrics from Stevie Nicks and Don Henleys "Leather and Lace"

I'll just post the corus even tho I love the whole song as it was Mine and Hubbys Wedding song :loveheart:

"Lovers forever, Face to Face
My City or Mountains
Stay with me Stay
I need you to love me
I need you today
Give to me your leather
Take from me my lace"

I  :loveheart: Stevie Nicks

Tirya:
Dann had the first line from "A Whole New World" engraved inside my engagement ring, because that's our song. Finding each other and moving forward instead of staying bogged down in the past.

Brace yourselves, it's Lennon and McCartney time!

And I Love Her

I give her all my love,
That's all I do,
And if you saw my love,
You'd love her too.
I love her.

She gives me ev'rything,
And tenderly,
The kiss my lover brings,
She brings to me,
And I love her.

A love like ours,
Could never die,
As long as I,
Have you near me.

Bright are the stars that shine,
Dark is the sky,
I know this love of mine,
Will never die,
And I love her.

Bright are the stars that shine,
Dark is the sky,
I know this love of mine,
Will never die,
And I love her.

(And I Love Her is simple and sweet.  Early McCartney development.)

I Will

Who knows how long I've loved you.
You know I love you still.
Will I wait a lonely lifetime
If you want me to – I will.

For if I ever saw you
I didn't catch your name.
But it never really mattered
I will always feel the same.

Love you forever and forever.
Love you with all my heart.
Love you whenever we're together.
Love you when we're apart.

And when at last I find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear.
Make it easy to be near you.

For the things you do endear you to me
You know I will.
I will.

(another sweet McCartney song.  I always thought this one was highly underrated.)

Julia

Half of what I say is meaningless
But I say it just to reach you, Julia.
Julia, Julia, oceanchild, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia
Julia, seashell eyes, windy smile, calls me
So I sing a song of love, Julia.
Her hair of floating sky is shimmering,
Glimmering,
In the sun.
Julia, Julia, morning moon, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia.
When I cannot sing my heart
I can only speak my mind, Julia.
Julia, sleeping sand, silent cloud, touch me
So I sing a song of love, Julia.
Hum hum hum hum calls me
So I sing a song of love for Julia, Julia, Julia.

(this is the sort of sweetness you'd expect from McCartney, except Lennon wrote it when he fell in love with Yoko)

I might post more later.  I'm such a sap.

AmberRaven:
The song we danced to when we had our reception when we got back from Vegas (where we got married) was "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney
