A little something you might want to be on the look-out for: http://wildhunt.org/blog/2010/03/first-they-came-for-the-swingers.html

Oh, I can just see these idiots trying something here. Southern Baptists are notoriously into being "prayer warriors" and such...I really hope I don't run into any of them. It could get ugly. :crazylaugh:

:brickwall: Right about now I'm really happy I live on the Left Coast ... our freedom of religion laws are tougher than those the feds have.

I wouldn't be so sure, CD. Have you heard of California's "five faiths" doctrine? It's the legal theory that the first amendment only applies to five faiths: Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, and Native American. Nothing else qualifies as a religion for purposes of protection. It's about to go to court in a case involving the state prisons, where they permit chaplains only of the five faiths- but many state offices are using that doctrine, also. The Wild Hunt, as usual, has all the links in one place: http://wildhunt.org/blog/2010/02/why-mccollums-fight-matters.html but many other media have covered the McCollum court battle as well.

Oh goody. Thanks for the heads-up, I hadn't heard of that one. Sigh
Of course, the fellow talked about in that blog entry isn't helping things any. I'm fairly certain the folks I work with know I'm not Christian or Catholic ... hell, I've got crystals, a salt lamp, and dried herbs all over my office and I always wear my pentacle, though it is modest ... not the 5 inch monstrosities the more flamboyant types wear. :rolleye:
In the 5 or 6 years I've been wearing the pentacle, only one person has ever asked me about it and he was clearly just curious. Southern California tends to be a LOT more liberal than Northern Cali ... and our corporate lawyers have drilled it into everyone that any denigrating comments about anyone's religion is an offense that will get you terminated ... no questions asked. I've seen a few folks, one with over 20 years, fired over insensitive remarks.

If they tried it around here, I think they'd be in for a world of hurt. The last time someone tried religious BS in front of the store, the police escorted them off the property. So they tried on the roadside, and one almost got hit by a car...the cop told him it was his own damn fault for playing in traffic.

:rotflmao:
That's awesome. :D
-
:laughfit: oh dear... playing by the road really isn't a good idea faith or no faith!

This group are a bunch of mouth breathers. Second Amendment, anyone? :jeckyllbat:
